These rows are our estimate. Suburban and community offices often charge 15 to 30 percent less than dense metro practices.
Lateral or crestal, and what else to budget
A sinus lift raises the floor of the sinus above your upper back teeth and packs bone underneath, so an implant has something to hold. Pearl notes it is mostly done by oral surgeons and periodontists, and healing takes about 4 to 9 months before the implant goes in.
The crestal lift is a small add on done through the implant hole when only a little more bone is needed. The lateral window lift is a bigger surgery for more bone. The implant, abutment and crown come later and cost extra. For smaller jobs, see dental bone graft prices.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask lateral or crestal.
- Ask one side or both.
- Ask if the scan and membrane are included.
- Ask about sedation and its price.
- Ask for the total through the final crown.
Ways to pay less
- Ask if a crestal lift will do.
- Do both sides at once if needed.
- Get pre-authorization from your insurer.
- Get a second opinion on the plan.
