The setup fee grows with your firm
NetDocuments charges a one time setup fee that scales with the number of users. Reported ranges are $2,500 to $5,000 for 1 to 5 users, $5,000 to $10,000 for 6 to 20 users, $10,000 to $20,000 for 21 to 50 users, and $20,000 or more above that.
Most of that fee is moving your old documents in and setting up folders and security. Clean up before you move. Delete duplicates and old drafts you do not need, and the move is faster and cheaper.
How the quote gets made
NetDocuments does not publish prices. A rep works out your size, what you need and how soon, then prices the deal to match. Discounts depend on timing and on whether you are talking to a rival. The numbers on this page are what buyers and analysts report paying, not a list price.
Because the bill is per user, per month, the quote grows with every seat you add. Count the seats you will really use before the call.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for the setup fee for your exact user count.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Clean up old files before the move to cut setup time.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
NetDocuments is built for firms that want their documents in the cloud with strict security. If your firm already keeps files in a general cloud drive, ask what you gain: legal specific filing, version control, email filing and client matter folders.
Ask about storage limits too. More stored data can add cost, so ask what is included per user and what extra storage costs before you sign.
One last point: ask about the minimum user count. It is usually 3 or 5 users, so a solo lawyer may pay for seats they do not use.
A final tip: ask what happens when a lawyer leaves. Per user pricing means you should be able to remove a seat at renewal. Ask whether seats can drop mid term, and how quickly a departed user's access and files can be moved to someone else.
About $50 to $65 per user a month, reported by users. Usually 3 or 5 users. Yes. From about $2,500 for small firms to $20,000 or more for large ones. No. Every quote is custom. Related jobs people check next, with the usual 2026 price.Common questions
