How we calculate this
Prices are for the United States in 2026 from published cost guides, checked September 2026. This is an estimate, not a quote.

The median deal is smaller than the headline
Most Ironclad articles quote big numbers. The contract data tells a calmer story: the median buyer pays about $40,000 a year, and buyers save about 21 percent on average through negotiation. So a quote well above $40,000 for a small team deserves a hard look.
The AI add on is where costs jump. One breakdown reports $50,000 to $200,000 a year on top of the base platform. Ask for the platform price with and without it, and decide if the AI is worth it in year one.
Why the price moves
Ironclad is quoted, not listed. The same product can cost one company far more than another because the rep prices to the buyer, not to a sheet. Seat count, contract length and how much setup help you need all move the number. The ranges here are drawn from real deals, not the vendor.
Pricing is per year, whole contract, so the main levers in the quote are the tier you pick and the setup fee, not the headcount.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for the price with and without the AI add on.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Sign two or three years for 15 to 25 percent lower yearly rates, with a capped rise.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
Ironclad is built for legal teams that want the rest of the company to create and sign standard contracts on their own. If most of your contracts are unique and heavily negotiated, you may get less value from it.
Count your contracts before the call: how many a year, and how many use a standard template. Those two numbers drive the quote more than anything else.
One more tip: ask for renewal caps. Renewal rises are reported as steep, so a cap matters more than the first year discount.
A last check: ask for customer references your size. Ironclad serves some very large companies. Speaking to a legal team your own size, with a similar contract load, tells you more about setup time and real costs than any sales deck.
