How we calculate this

Prices are for the United States in 2026 from published cost guides, checked September 2026. This is an estimate, not a quote.

Gutter guard installation cost by region

Lower cost states$525 to $1,975. Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia and most rural areas.
Average cost states$652 to $2,462. Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and most mid size cities.
Higher cost states$850 to $3,200. California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, plus big metros such as Chicago, Denver and Washington DC.

These rows are our estimate. We took the typical national range and adjusted it for local labor costs, which run about 20 percent lower in the cheapest states and about 30 percent higher in the dearest ones. Homes under pine and oak trees need finer mesh, which costs more.

A $1,500 job and a $6,000 job with the same name

This page has the widest range on the site. HomeAdvisor's average is about $1,514. HomeGuide's professional range is $3,000 to $9,000. The difference is the product and the sales model. A local gutter company fitting aluminum or mesh guards charges $4 to $13 a foot. A national brand that sends a salesperson to your home charges $15 to $39 a foot and backs it with a lifetime warranty and a large ad budget.

Some of those systems are very good. The question is whether they are four times as good as a quality micro mesh guard from a local installer. For most houses, they are not. For a steep roof you never want to climb again, a transferable lifetime warranty may be worth paying for.

    How to compare

Ask every company for three numbers: the linear feet, the price per foot, and the material. If a salesperson will only give you a total after a long visit, ask for the per foot price in writing. Then compare.

Why this costs more in 2026

Aluminum and stainless steel mesh follow metal prices, and installs are truck and ladder jobs.

Two costs moved in 2026. Diesel passed $6 a gallon on September 11 (CBS 8 reporting AAA), and building inputs rose 4.8 percent in a year (Roofing Contractor). Ask if your price can change before work starts.
