How we calculate this
Prices are for the United States in 2026 from published cost guides, checked September 2026. This is an estimate, not a quote.
What a bridge costs
| 3 unit bridge, one missing tooth | $3,010 to $7,900, about $4,620 (Pearl, May 2026). |
|---|---|
| 4 unit bridge | Costs more, spans two teeth. |
| Build ups on support teeth | Billed separately. |
| With a PPO plan | Often about half, up to the yearly maximum. |
| Lifespan | Typically 10 to 15 years. |
What pushes a quote up
| Number of units | Each unit adds cost. |
|---|---|
| Material | All ceramic, metal fused porcelain and gold differ. |
| Lab | High end labs cost more. |
| Build ups or root canals | Billed on top when needed. |
| Location | Metro offices charge more. |
Dental bridge cost by region
| Lower cost states | $2,400 to $6,300. Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia and most rural areas. |
|---|---|
| Average cost states | $3,010 to $7,900. Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and most mid size cities. |
| Higher cost states | $3,900 to $10,300. California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, plus big metros such as Chicago, Denver and Washington DC. |
These rows are our estimate. We took the typical national range and adjusted it for local labor costs, which run about 20 percent lower in the cheapest states and about 30 percent higher in the dearest ones. Suburban and community offices often charge 15 to 30 percent less than dense metro practices.
Bridge or implant: the real trade off
A bridge fills a gap with a false tooth held by crowns on the teeth either side. Pearl notes it usually takes two visits and does not need surgery. The catch is that healthy neighbor teeth are shaved down to hold the crowns, and if one of them fails, the whole bridge usually has to be replaced.
A single dental implant costs about the same or more once the crown is added, but it can last 20 years or more and leaves the other teeth alone. A partial denture is the cheapest way to fill gaps but comes out at night.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for an implant quote to compare.
- Ask how many units and the per unit fee.
- Ask which material.
- Ask about build ups.
- Ask how long it should last.
Ways to pay less
- Use your PPO plan across two calendar years if you can.
- Check a dental school clinic.
- Compare a partial denture.
- Ask about financing.
