These rows are our estimate. We took the typical national range and adjusted it for local labor costs, which run about 20 percent lower in the cheapest states and about 30 percent higher in the dearest ones. Hybrid specialists are not in every city, which can push you to a dealer.

    New, refurbished or module repair

A new factory pack costs most and carries the longest warranty. A refurbished pack uses tested cells and costs far less. ThePricer notes that the 12 volt battery is a different part and a much cheaper job, so make sure the diagnosis is the high voltage pack before you pay for it.

Green Bean Battery, a hybrid battery specialist, puts dealer Prius replacements at $3,500 to over $5,000 in 2026 with about a 12 month warranty, against $1,349 to $1,949 for its own installed packs. CARspec, a Minnesota shop, lists fixed prices of $2,998 for a new Toyota pack in a 2004 to 2009 Prius and $2,280 for a rebuilt one, and it does not recommend single module replacements.

Check your manufacturer's hybrid warranty first, since it may still cover the pack. See our Tesla battery replacement cost page for full electric cars.

Why this costs more in 2026

Hybrid packs contain nickel or lithium cells whose prices move with metals markets.

Two costs moved in 2026. Diesel passed $6 a gallon on September 11 (CBS 8 reporting AAA), and building inputs rose 4.8 percent in a year (Roofing Contractor). Ask if your price can change before work starts.
