These rows are our estimate. We took the typical national range and adjusted it for local labor costs, which run about 20 percent lower in the cheapest states and about 30 percent higher in the dearest ones. Labor and permit costs vary widely by region, so local quotes matter.
Three season or four season
This Old House explains the split. A three season room uses single pane windows and is meant for mild weather. A four season room has double pane windows and heating and cooling so you can use it all year. The four season version costs far more and needs more permits.
A sunroom is not cheaper than a regular addition. Ken Ward, a Virginia remodeler quoted by Real Homes, says windows drive up the cost because glass costs more than a normal wall of siding, insulation and drywall. Angi's figures put a sunroom at $150 to $300 per square foot, against $80 to $200 for a regular addition.
Deck conversions
Prefab kits are often used to enclose an existing patio or deck. Make sure the deck can carry the weight before you buy.
